Welcome To Earth Faerie! Thanks for your interest in my jewellery. My work is inspired by the natural world and in response to our throwaway society. I try wherever possible to reuse items with a history that have been discarded and might otherwise end up in landfill. I take the old, discarded and transform them into wearable art pieces. Semi-precious stones are set and strung on re-used copper. Old leather coats, skirts, and belts are turned into cuffs.
I am self-taught and make all of the jewellery personally and by hand. My main tools are my eyes, fingers, and hand tools. The copper wire is hand-formed, cut, cold-connected, textured, forged, embossed, riveted, pierced, soldered, and/or oxidized. Many pieces are embellished with beads and sometimes found objects
My passion for using copper wire is because it can be re-purposed to beautiful jewellery. For me, this makes scrap copper a precious material because of its durability and longevity. I feel a responsibility as a maker, creating and adding more things into this world that I look to what materials can be repurposed and transformed into something beautiful rather than end up in a landfill.
